NBCU Names Trio Of Digital Ad Execs

NBCUniversal announced three key appointments within the company’s digital advertising sales organization.

Phil Cara has joined the company as SVP, digital entertainment advertising sales to oversee digital ad sales for a portfolio of sites anchored by Fandango and E! Online.

James Kreckler has been promoted to SVP, digital entertainment advertising sales and will drive revenue and create effective marketing campaigns for NBCUniversal’s entire digital entertainment portfolio.

Aaron Radin has joined in the new position of SVP, partnerships and portfolio products, to spearhead the creation of new portfolio advertising products and platform initiatives across NBCUniversal’s portfolio.

NBCUniversal’s portfolio includes more than 50 digital properties in entertainment, sports and news, with more than 100 million monthly unique visitors, as well as two broadcast networks — Spanish and English language —and 18 cable networks.

Cara and Kreckler will report to Scott Schiller, EVP, digital advertising sales. Radin will report to Krishan Bhatia, EVP, digital strategy and operations.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Before joining NBCUniversal, Radin was CEO of Toura, a company he founded in 2009, which developed a content distribution technology to any smartphone or tablet device. Previously, Radin led sales and business development efforts at Radio One in 2009, and at CBS Television Stations Digital Media Group in 2004-08. Radin has held positions at GoldPocket and The Walt Disney Company where he launched multiple interactive television initiatives.

Cara brings 25 years of experience in customer relationships, sales management as well as marketing, having held positions at Fortune 500 companies including AOL and Yahoo. Before joining NBCUniversal, Cara was SVP, sales at The Huffington Post from 2010 to 2013, where he oversaw and developed the company’s social and native advertising revenue. And, Cara joined AOL as VP of sales prior to the company’s acquisition of The Huffington Post in 2009. From 2001 to 2008, Cara was executive director of sales at Yahoo. Additionally, during his tenure at Yahoo, Cara co-founded Yahoo Consumer Direct, a strategic partnership with Nielsen that successfully grew Yahoo’s CPG and retail business. 

Kreckler joined NBCUniversal in January 2012 as VP, advertising sales for iVillage, the online community for women. He has more than 15 years of experience in sales and marketing management with interactive media and financial service companies, including DoubleClick Inc., Rodale Inc. and AOL.
