NBCU Ups Jennifer Karie To Business Affairs VP

Jennifer Karie today was named vice president, business affairs, NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution. Karie will continue to report to Inge Van Herle, SVP, business affairs, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution.

The company said Karie’s promotion to VP “recognizes her substantial contribution to the division particularly by taking on primary business affairs related responsibilities for the Division’s advertising sales group as well as increased supervisory responsibilities for NBCU’s first-run talk shows.”

She also will continue to manage contractual negotiations for first-run syndicated programs and development projects and will continue to advise our programming, sales, advertising sales, branded entertainment, marketing and digital teams on rights, regulatory and contractual matters.

Karie joined NBCUniversal in 2006 as director of business affairs. As director, Karie handled various aspects of business affairs for first-run syndicated programs and development projects. Most recently, she has worked on negotiations and contracts for the The Meredith Vieira Show, which premieres in national syndication in the fall of 2014.

Before NBCUniversal, from 2001 to 2005, Karie worked at Goldring, Hertz & Lichtenstein as an associate.

In 2000, Karie began her career at Fox Lax Group, PC. Karie negotiated and drafted talent services and various other agreements relating to music, television, and motion picture industries.

Karie holds a J.D. from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law with a focus on intellectual property and received her B.A. in public policy and management from the University of Southern California.
