Lockwood is moving its Knoxville GM to succeed Brad Moses as head of the Kansas ABC affil when the deal for KAKE closes, anticipated to be at year’s end.

Lockwood Broadcast Group today announced appointed Neal Davis the new general manager of ABC affiliate KAKE Wichita, Kan. (DMA 65). The appointment will become effective when Lockwood assumes ownership of the station, anticipated to be at the end of this year.

Davis brings more than 25 years of experience as a broadcast television executive, most recently as GM of Lockwood’s WBXX and WKNX in Knoxville, Tenn.

Previously, Davis has been GM of WLFL and WRDC in Raleigh, N.C., and WMBD and WYZZ in Peoria-Bloomington, Ill.

He began his career and advanced through sales management positions at WYZZ.

“Neal did a wonderful job in Knoxville and is the perfect fit to continue the winning tradition at KAKE. We are fortunate to have a broadcaster of Neal’s experience and character leading the team in Wichita,” said Lockwood VP Gerald Walsh.

In October, Gray Television announced that it would exchange KAKE for Lockwood’s WBXX (CW) Knoxville, Tenn., and $11.2 million in cash. At the closing, KAKE’s current general manager, Brad Moses, will remain with Gray Television in a new corporate position through which he will assist newly acquired television stations and personnel with their integration into Gray.
