Nevion And T-VIPS Complete Merger

The merged video transport firm will keep the Nevion name, focus on innovating in professional media transport and delivery.

Norwegian video transport suppliers Nevion and T-VIPS today announced that the merger between the two companies is complete. The new company will be named Nevion.

The merger was structured as a cash and shares transaction. Further financial details weren’t disclosed.

Geir Bryn-Jensen, CEO of Nevion, says the merger will allow Nevion to be the leading innovator in professional media transport and delivery.

“As broadcast, IT and telecoms technologies converge, the new Nevion will continue to help customers take advantage of this disruptive change in the market,” Bryn-Jensen said in a statement. “We’re influencing the future of media transport and delivery, and enabling emerging business models with integrated solutions for managed media services over IP, optical and terrestrial networks.”

Management from both companies will join the new venture, with former T-VIPS CEO Johnny Dolvik joining as chief strategy officer.

Major media networks, such as AT&T, BBC, CCTV, Telefonica and NASA useNevion’s IP and optical transport compression and routing technologies for everything from major sporting events to live TV events around the globe.

T-VIPS is best known for its JPEG2000 video gateway, which is used for IP video transport and digital terrestrial television.
