NATPE 2017

New Palin Show Finishes Last In Katz Survey

Katz tested “awareness and interest” among 404 adults, 18 or older, in eight first-run shows on sale at NATPE. The most interest (69%) was shown in Bellum's Mysteries of the Unexplained, while courtroom Palin Rules appealed to only 21%.

Of eight first-run syndicated shows being pitched at NATPE in Miami Beach this week, a judge show featuring one-time GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is least appealing to viewers surveyed by Katz Television.

Only 21% of the respondents said that they would watch or might watch Palin Rules, which was developed by Larry Little, the producer who launched Judge Judy, and distributed by Barry Wallach and Lee Villas.

For the survey, Katz tested “awareness and interest” among 404 adults, 18 or older and geographically dispersed, via Ourmedia.com, Katz’s standing panel of TV viewers.

Scoring best in the survey were Mysteries of the Unexplained and Killer Mysteries. Sixty nine percent and 62% of the respondents, respectively, said they would watch or might watch those shows.

Both are 30-minute, straight barter shows distributed by Bellum.

Rounding out the eight were a talk show with former American Idol contestant Kelly Pickler (55%), which has been developed the E.W. Scripps station group; Impractical Jokers, an off-cable series from Trifecta; Dateline, a derivative of the NBC primetime true-crime series from NBCU (51%); a talk show with Drew Barrymore, from Warner Bros. (47%); and Couples Court: Cheaters on Trial, from MGM (22%).

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Warner Bros. had at one time hoped bring out the Barrymore show this fall, but it is now targeted fall 2018.

Shows looking for clearances and a fall 2017 launch and not included in the survey:

  • Bold, a live half hour from Tegna and MGM that draws content from social media and uses social media to interact with viewers.
  • Funny You Should Ask, a game show from Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios.
  • Page Six TV and Top 30, news-based half hours from Twentieth Television. The former features the best of the Page Six gossip section of the New York Post.

Will “Palin Rules” have English subtitles?

I would ask the same of Kelly Pickler. Only those in NC Markets (FormerGM, MacJohn and RIDGELINETV IN CAPS would be able to understand her with her thick Southern North Carolina drawl.

Wrong (what’s new?) Not in a “NC Market” as you suggest. But we do even understand that whiney, nasal New York accent you speak even here in the Atlanta, Georgia market – there are plenty of these carpetbaggers here…

Wow. A few months ago you were crowing you were not just in some podunk town in GA, but also a podunk community in NC. Now you are walking that back. Seems you cannot keep up with your stories!

LMAO!! You’re wrong again. In addition to Georgia, my channel is available in Clay County, North Carolina… which is in the ATLANTA DMA. No crowing about it, just fact.

There you go changing facts. You service people in NC. And you foolishly think you are an Atlanta station, ROFLMAO
