Weigel-MGM’s classic TV network will air on the primary channels of KFTY San Francisco and KVOS Seattle. The additions push Me-TV clearances to over 45%.

Weigel Broadcasting Co. and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. announced Thursday that Me-TV (Memorable Entertainment Television), the new digital classic television network, will be cleared as primary signals on Newport Television’s full power KFTY San Francisco (DMA 6) and KVOS Seattle (DMA 13). Both stations have full market distribution with cable and satellite carriage and are scheduled to premiere as Me-TV affiliates later this spring.

“The wide range of classic series, creative marketing brand of Me-TV and the strength of two quality television stations make for an ideal partnership to showcase this network to our viewers throughout the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose Bay area and Northwest Washington,” said Ken Reiner, VP programming, Newport Television. “Me-TV features some of the most beloved series ever created for television.”

These two stations join WBME Milwaukee, as Me-TV primary station clearances. Me-TV is now cleared in more than 45% of the country on leading station groups including: Hearst Television, Raycom Media, Cox Television, Newport Television, Media General, Capitol Broadcasting, Bahakel Communications, Gray Television, Quincy Newspapers, New Age Media, MPS Media, London Broadcasting Group,  Bonten Media Group and Titan Broadcast Management.

San Franciscans have told me that they hate to have their city referred to as “Frisco.”

Another error: KVOS is licensed to Bellingham, WA, though they are technically in the Seattle market.

KVOS isn’t exactly “Seattle.” It has more viewers in Canada than in Seattle. It’s such a far rimshot that it’s not even on most cable systems. Calling KVOS a Seattle station is like saying you got clearance in New York because your program is on WNEP in Scranton.
