Newport Signs On With TheCoolTV Diginet

The agreement covering 10 of Newport Television's 22 markets increases the music network's reach to more than 45 million TV homes, nearly 40% of total homes.

Newport Television has agreed to carry TheCoolTV multicast network in 10 of its 22 markets, the network parent Cool Music Network announced this morning.

The 10 markets: Harrisburg, Pa.; Seattle-Tacoma; Albany-Schenectady-Troy, N.Y.; Jackson, Tenn.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Ark.; Salt Lake City; Tulsa, Okla.; Wichita-Hutchison, Kan.; and Memphis, Tenn.

According to CMN, the deal will add an additional seven million TV homes to its coverage, boosting its reach to more than 45 million homes or nearly 40% of the 115.9 million total U.S. homes.

Other major affiliates of the diginet include Journal Broadcast Group, Sinclair Broadcasting, LIN TV, Belo and McGraw-Hill.

“Embracing new entertainment-oriented content like TheCoolTV enhances our stations’ digital multicast offerings for viewers and clients alike,” said Ken Reiner, VP programming of Newport Television, in a prepared statement.

“It offers a fresh blend of talented local artists, favorite national music and live national performances to engage the music fan in all of us.  We are excited about offering a fresh new short-form music network across our stations’ digital spectrum.”
