News Staff Changes At WSNS Chicago

Telemundo-owned WSNS Chicago (DMA 3) said today that Irene Sanchez has joined the station as a news reporter. She will be reporting for its weekday newscasts Noticiero Telemundo Chicago at 4, 4:30, 5 and 10 p.m.

In addition, Zully Ramirez has been named as the station’s new investigative reporter for Telemundo Responde, the station’s consumer investigative unit that provides Spanish-language consumers a direct opportunity to have their concerns addressed and investigated.

“We are committed to hiring the best journalists to help us stand up for consumers’ rights and deliver up-to-the minute breaking news,” said Chris McDonnell, WSNS president-GM. “Irene and Zully’s reporting experience will help our viewers stay ahead of the news and help Noticiero Telemundo Chicago become the local newscast of choice.”

Irene Sanchez joins WSNS from Univision Communications in Miami, where she was a reporter and producer for Noticiero Univision and also reported for WLTV.

Sanchez has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in marketing and advertising from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Spain.

Zully Ramirez joined WSNS in January of 2014 as a news reporter and has covered several special interest stories including the police violence in Chicago, ambulant food service permits, and the closing of several churches in the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Prior to joining WSNS, Ramirez worked as a news reporter for WUNI Boston from 2011 to 2013. She was also the host of the program Hoy en Nueva York for World Communications Enterprises from 2010 to 2011.
