Nexstar Extends CBS Affiliation Deals

New agreements extend the affiliations for nine of  the 11 CBS affiliates that Nexstar owns or operates. The agreements are good through the end of 2018.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group announced today that it has extended the affiliation agreements with CBS through December 2018 for nine stations that it owns or operates.

The long-term deals cover KLBK Lubbock, Texas; KLST San Angelo, Texas; KTAB Abilene-Sweetwater, Texas; WCIA Champaign-Springfield-Decatur, Ill.; WFRV Green Bay, Wis.; WJMN Marquette, Mich.; WMBD Peoria-Bloomington, Ill.; WROC Rochester, N.Y; and KOLR Springfield, Mo. KOLR is owned by Mission Broadcasting, but Nexstar operates it under contract.

“We are delighted to continue our relationship with CBS in these important television markets through the long-term extension of our affiliation agreements,” said Nexstar CEO Perry Sook.

“This mutually beneficial long-term affiliation renewal recognizes the value of CBS Television programming,” said Diana Wilkin, president of affiliate relations for the CBS Television Network.

“These are nine important markets where Nexstar has consistently delivered strong local programming and community service, which has complemented television’s No. 1 line-up and news and sports franchises extremely well. Our companies share a commitment to strengthening our revenues, advertisers and audiences, and these agreements are important to our mutual efforts.”

Nexstar operates two other CBS affiliates. The CBS affiliation agreements for WTAJ Johnstown-Altoona, Pa., and WYOU Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Pa. (owned by Mission) follow separate renewal schedules and are due to expire in June 2016 and June 2015, respectively.
