Nexstar Names Arika Zink GM In Evansville

The former GM of Four Points stations in West Palm Beach is succeeding the retiring Mike Smith as head of WEHT and WTVW.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today announced that Arika L. Zink has been appointed vice president and general manager of ABC affiliate WEHT Evansville, Ind. (DMA 104) and its associated digital services including community Web portals Tristatehomepage.com and Tristate on the Go.

Zink will also oversee Mission Broadcasting’s WTVW (Fox) which Nexstar provides services to under a joint operating agreement.  Zink’s appointment is effective today, and she will report to Timothy Busch, EVP-co-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting. 

Zink replaces Mike Smith who is retiring and Nexstar said it is “grateful for his many contributions to the Company during his nine-year tenure including overseeing the Evansville operations for the past six years.

Zink brings nearly 25 years of broadcasting experience to her new role. Since June 2009, she has been VP-GM of Four Points Media Group’s West Palm Beach, Fla., television operations including its CW affiliate WTVX; MNT affiliate, WTCN-CA; Azteca América affiliate, WWHB-CA, LATV and community Web portal WeAreWestPalm.com.

In addition to that role, Zink’s experience includes revenue-focused sales management experience, general sales manager experience and a background in corporate sales operation management in South Carolina, Ohio and West Virginia. She began her television career in 1987.

Zink attended West Virginia University’s Peerly Isaac Reed School of Journalism.
