The broadcasting and sales management executive with more than 25 years of local media experience is promoted to lead its duopoly of WAVY (NBC) WVBT (Fox).

Nexstar Names Carol Ward Norfolk GM
Nexstar Media Group today appointed Carol Ward VP and general manager of WAVY (NBC) and WVBT (Fox) and their associated digital serving Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News, Va. (DMA 42). She succeeds Doug Davis, who was promoted to senior SVP and regional manager in January.
Since 2012, Ward has been stations’ sales director for five years. She assumes her new role immediately and will report to Doug Davis, Nexstar SVP and regional manager.
Ward’s extensive broadcast experience encompasses client and revenue development in television markets throughout the country. From 2008 to 2012, she was general sales manager for KIRO Seattle-Tacoma, Wash.
She served as general sales manager for WNCN Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville, N.C., from 2006 to 2008 and was local sales manager at WFLA Tampa from 2001 to 2006.
Earlier in her career, Ward was an account executive at WATL Atlanta and at KMGH and KUSA, both in Denver.
Ward majored in business and marketing at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo.
