Nexstar Names Chris Pruitt Central TX VP-GM

He will lead Fox affiliate KWKT, MNT affil KYLE and MyCenTX.com in Waco-Temple-Bryan, Texas.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today appointed Chris Pruitt vice president and general manager of KWKT (Fox), KYLE (MNT) and associated digital services, including Estrella TV and community Web portal MyCenTX.com serving the Waco, Temple and Bryan, Texas market (DMA 87). He assumes his new responsibilities immediately.

Pruitt’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans nearly two decades, including 14 years with Nexstar Broadcasting, and he brings a background in local news production, programming, digital services, new business development, inventory control and regional sales to his new role.

Before his return to Nexstar, he was VP-GM of KMVT and KSVT Twin Falls, Idaho, for five years.

Prior to Twin Falls, he was VP-GM and general sales manager of Nexstar’s KBTV Beaumont, Texas where he led the complete rebranding, marketing, and turnaround of the station following its switch from an NBC to Fox affiliation. In addition, Pruitt led initiatives to manage the recovery of the station from devastating hurricanes and was recognized by former FCC commissioner Robert McDowell for exemplary execution of KBTV’s digital television build-out.

From 2002 to 2008 Pruitt was at Nexstar’s KMID Midland, Texas where he served as general sales manager (2002-04) and as VP-GM (2004-08).

Earlier in his Nexstar career he served as local sales manager at KJTL and KJBO and account executive at KFDX (NBC) in his hometown of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Pruitt earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.
