Nexstar Taps Huey As Tyler-Longview GM

TV veteran Ward Huey will lead Nexstar’s operations including KETK, KFXK, KFXL, KLPN and MyEastTex.com.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today appointed Ward Huey vice president and general manager of its NBC affiliate KETK Tyler-Longview, Texas (DMA 109), and the station’s associated digital services, including community web portal MyEastTex.com. In his new role, he will also be responsible for overseeing the joint operating agreement with White Knight Broadcasting for KFXK (Fox), KFXL-LD (Fox) and KLPN-LD (MyNetworkTV).

The appointment is effective immediately and Huey will report to Brian Jones, EVP and Co-COO of Nexstar Broadcasting.

Huey’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans over two decades, including four years with Nexstar, and he brings a comprehensive background in local, national and regional sales, new business development, inventory control and strategic planning across multiple media platforms to his new role.

Most recently he was the director of sales of KNWA and KFTA Fort Smith-Fayetteville, Ark. He joined Nexstar from KUTL Tulsa, Okla., where he was general sales manager. He developed extensive local sales expertise throughout his career, previously serving as local sales manager at KFOR Oklahoma City from 2001 to 2006 and KENS San Antonio, Texas, from 1999 to 2001.

Huey also has experience as a group marketing director of a software company and as a national account executive for a television advertising sales rep firm. Earlier in his career, he held local account executive positions at several network affiliates in the Southwest and Southeast.

Huey earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in economics from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport and holds a Masters of Arts in television management from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
