Nexstar Taps Marrs As VP In Burlington, Vt.

Veteran broadcasting executive Craig Marrs will lead WFFF, WVNY and MyChamplainValley.com.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today named Craig Marrs vice president and general manager of Fox affiliate WFFF Burlington, Vt.-Plattsburg, N.Y. (DMA 98) and its associated digital and mobile services of MyChamplainValley.com. He will also oversee the market’s ABC affiliate WVNY through a joint operating agreement with Mission Broadcasting.

Marrs will assume his new responsibilities immediately and will report to Theresa Underwood, Nexstar SVP and regional manager. He joins Nexstar from KMIR-KPSE Palm Desert, Calif., where he was VP-GM.

His career in broadcasting spans over three decades, with expertise in multi-market television station operations and management along with leadership experience in the creation of market-leading local content and news programming.

He began his broadcast career as an assignment editor and producer at KOCO Oklahoma City while attending the University of Central Oklahoma, working his way up to news director of KWTV Oklahoma City.

From 2000 to 2006, he was VP-station manager of KRON San Francisco, where he led the station’s affiliation switch from NBC to an independent.

He was also GM of WHNT Huntsville, Ala., and KTEN Sherman-Denison, Texas.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Marrs founded NorthWest Cable News (NWCN) in Seattle and worked for several years as senior media consultant manager at Frank N. Magid Associates, consulting with local, national and international television operations and networks on their news content, market share and profitability improvements.

Marrs earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.
