Nexstar Ups Pruett To West Region Manager

Wayne Reed will succeed Julie Pruett as VP-GM of the company’s KFDX Wichita Falls, Texas, operations.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group today named Julie Pruett senior vice president and regional manager, West region, a new position at the company. Since 1996, Pruett has been VP-GM of Nexstar’s NBC affiliate KFDX and texomashomepage.com in Wichita Falls, Texas-Lawton, Okla. (DMA 143). During that time, Pruett was also responsible for managing Nexstar’s relationship with Mission Broadcasting’s KJTL (Fox) and KJBO-LP (MNT) under a joint operating agreement.

Wayne Reed, who been KFDX director of sales since 2007 and has held various local, national and digital sales positions at the station since 1994, will succeed Pruett as VP-GM.

The appointments are effective Sept. 3, and both Pruett and Reed will report to Brian Jones, Nexstar co-COO.

In her new role, Pruett will oversee strategic planning and business development of Nexstar’s West region operations, which includes stations in Louisiana, Missouri and Texas. She will have direct oversight of select markets and their respective general managers and will be responsible for developing and implementing new business strategies. Pruett will also be responsible for executing strategies aimed at developing local viewership, improving operating efficiencies, and achieving financial goals.

Pruett first joined Nexstar in 1997 as VP-GM of KFDX. During her tenure, she provided oversight of the stations’ DTV and high-definition conversion, managed a complete overall of the station’s news operations and launched its e-Media platform.

Reed ascended to positions of increasing responsibility at KFDX, serving as local account executive, local sales manager, and most recently director of sales for all three Wichita Falls/Lawton stations and their e-Media operations. Throughout his approximate 20-year career at the stations, the station said, “he has lead sales teams and implemented strategies that resulted in local, national, and digital revenue increases and new business growth.”
