I wouldn’t mind me wanting to see Platte County, Nebraska being back into the Lincoln-Kearney-Hastings-Grand Island TV DMA after about 20 years of being stuck in the Omaha TV DMA and also take Colfax County, Nebraska away from the Omaha TV DMA. Lots of TV viewers in Platte, NE and Colfax, NE would rather watch their local news from KLKN TV 8 or 10/11 from Lincoln than those from out of Omaha. It would enable better must carry protection to carry the LIncoln and the Tri Cites stations on cable and satellite in Platte, NE and also in Colfax County, NE. It would also enable viewers to watch KHAS and the NTV stations off the satellite. It would even out the level playing field of the Omaha and the Lincoln-Kearney-Hastings-Grand Island TV DMA’s in Nebraska for the TV viewers in Platte and Colfax counties in Nebraska. It would truly make sense for Platte, NE and Colfax, NE counties to move back in the Lincoln-Tri Cities TV DMA after channel 8 move to the Lincoln area to become KLKN with the broadcasting tower in Utica, NE being launched 15 years ago and also for KSNB channel 4 wanting to move closer to the Lincoln area by planning to transmit from the KTMX tower in the York area with the proposed coverage area having Merrick County/Nance County/Platte County/Colfax County, NE to the north, Republic County, KS to the south, eastern Buffalo County/Hall County/Adam County, NE to the west, and western Cass County/western Otoe County, NE to the east with the possibly of transmitting KFXL FOX Nebraska and local NTV programming on it’s DT1 and DT2 channels in full HD in the future.

Is the massive drop in households for many of the large markets because of the bad economy affecting overall TV households, or were Neilsen’s numbers from last year inflated or incorrect?

It’s one thing to say your station’s numbers aren’t right, but it ranges on close to the absurd (and I’m not a Nielsen fan, per se) to think that they manipulate household numbers. After all, they are a marketing research firm in multiple markets. Have you noticed houses being built in the last few years?
