NOA Delivers Express Archiving Service

NOA technology came to the rescue for Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) when the national broadcaster needed to digitize a collection of 20,000 CDs and MiniDiscs within six weeks.

Hong Kong-based broadcast systems and solutions provider Digital Media Technology was approached by the broadcaster to provide a solution that could meet the urgent project deadlines, and within 16 days a complete NOA system had been installed and put to work. The configuration used at RTHK included CD Lector, MediaLector, jobDB, mediaButler and DBScripter.

RTVHK required Digital Media Technology to provide the solution as a service — a new departure for the solutions provider. NOA developed additional functionality for the installation to meet the specification for precise and detailed notifications on C2 problems during transfer.

“This has been a fascinating and exciting project,” said Digital Media Technology’s Desmond Stou. “We were really happy that NOA’s speedy response with a high-performance system allowed us to branch out into service provision and meet the client’s very tight timeframes so successfully.”

“We are very proud that DMT could meet the project goals for RTHK at such short notice,” said Christophe Kummer, NOA’s CEO. “We expect more and more of these urgent projects as broadcasters and other content owners rush to head off obsolescence. NOA’s investment in our support and installations team means we have the resources to achieve fast turnovers for clients and customers.”
