Paltrow, Swift Set For Cancer Telethon

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An A-list cast of celebrities is joining a telethon to raise money and awareness to fight cancer.

Stand Up to Cancer said Wednesday that Gwyneth Paltrow, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Emma Stone and Samuel L. Jackson are among the stars participating in its September event.

Paltrow also is an executive producer for the fundraiser that will be carried commercial-free by the four major broadcast networks and more than a dozen cable channels.

Musical performances by Taylor Swift, Coldplay, Alicia Keys and Tim McGraw are planned, and celebrities will be on hand to take phone pledges.

The telethon comes a year after the founder of Stand Up to Cancer, “Spider-Man” movie producer Laura Ziskin, lost her life to the disease at age 61.

The telethon airs Sept. 7.
