PPI To Distribute ‘Little Mosque’ In The US

WestWind Pictures, producer of the CBC original series, Little Mosque on the Prairie, and independent U.S.TV distributor PPI Releasing are teaming up to sell the series to American broadcasters. The series is distributed worldwide by WestWind Releasing and has aired in more than 80 countries.

“We think the timing is right for something different on American television,” said PPI principal, Josh Raphaelson. “Above all, what sells this show is that it is very, very funny.”

Little Mosque takes an affectionate, warts-and-all look at a small Muslim community trying to fit into a rural town. The series’ production team has featured writers and directors from Everybody Loves Raymond, The Office and Kids in the Hall.

PPI’s announcement comes as the CBC wraps the sixth season of the show. Little Mosque premiered on the CBC in January 2007 with record ratings, drawing the largest audience for the network in over a decade. Since then, Little Mosque has garnered worldwide attention and received countless awards, including four Gemini Award nominations and two Rose d’Or nominations for Best Sitcom at The Global Entertainment Television Festival.
