‘Rachael’ Moving To ABC O&Os In 4 Cities

CBS Television Distribution's Rachael Ray has been on CBS stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco and Tribune's WGN Chicago and Titan's KUBE Houston. ABC says it has not yet decided where it is going to put Rachael in the KABC and KGO lineups, but speculation is it could take 3-4 p.m. now occupied by Katie, which is not returning in the fall.

CBS Television Distribution’s Rachael Ray will move this fall to ABC Owned Television Stations’ KABC Los Angeles, WLS Chicago, KTRK Houston and KGO San Francisco, from CBS Television Stations in Los Angeles and San Francisco, Tribune’s WGN in Chicago and Titan’s KUBE in Houston, a spokesperson for the ABC Owned Stations confirmed this morning.

In Los Angeles, the show moves from KCBS; in San Francisco, it moves from KPIX.

Sources at the NATPE conference in Miami Beach earlier this week speculated that Rachael would likely replace Disney-ABC’s Katie at 3 p.m. on the two California stations. Katie with Katie Couric is in the middle of its second season and is not coming back for a third in the fall.

ABC says it has not yet decided where it is going to put Rachel in the KABC and KGO lineups.

Rachael already airs on ABC Owned stations in New York, Philadelphia and Raleigh, N.C.

In October, CTD renewed Rachael for two more seasons, which will take it through 2015-16, its 10th season. This year, it’s averaging a 0.8 rating among women 25-54, flat to last year. It ranks No. 10 among talk shows.

Putting Rachel Ray into the Katie slot makes total sense. I think she would do well there.
