Raycom Names New GMs At KOLD, WFIE

Nick Ulmer becomes VP-GM of CBS affiliate KOLD Tucson, Ariz. He’s succeeded as head of NBC affil WFIE Evansville, Ind., by Jay Hiett, who’s promoted from general sales manager there.

Raycom Media today appointed new leadership at its CBS affiliate KOLD Tucson, Ariz., and its NBC affiliate WFIE Evansville, Ind.

Nick Ulmer becomes VP-GM of KOLD. He will be moving over from Raycom Media’s WFIE Evansville, where he has been VP-GM since 2010. Ulmer succeeds Debbie Bush, who left to be VP-GM of Raycom’s WXIX Cincinnati.

Group VP Brad Streit said: “I have known Nick for almost 15 years as a solid, outgoing leader. He is a visionary and problem solver with a long track record of effectively bringing people together to accomplish great things.”

Ulmer started his career on the advertising agency side of the business and quickly moved to WLRS-FM Louisville, Ky., where he was an account executive and general sales manager.

He later joined the sales staff at WAVE Louisville. Ulmer rose to national sales manager, general sales manager and station manger while at WAVE.

Ulmer is being succeeded at WFIE by Jay Hiett, who is being promoted from his current post as the station’s general sales manager.

Hiett started his career at KARD Monroe, La., where he served as an account executive. Later he joined WTVW Evansville where he was an account executive later rising to local sales manager. Hiett joined Raycom Media and WFIE in 2010 as general sales manager. 

He received a degree in broadcasting and communications from Western Kentucky University.
