Raycom Sports Offers Syndicated ACC Special

Raycom Sports today unveiled a new television show to coincide with the 2016 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship. The hour-long special, Forging History: The Road to an ACC Championship, will show what it takes to become an ACC Football Champion. NFL Network host and NFL.com senior reporter Jeffri Chadiha will narrate the special, which is a collaborative effort between Raycom and the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Filmed over the course of the 2016 football season, Forging History will take an in-depth look at both the Atlantic and Coastal Division champions, “capturing the emotion, the passion and the excitement of Championship Week,” according to Raycom. There is a behind-the-scenes, all-access look through the eyes of the players and coaches who propelled the Clemson Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies to Orlando as they look to cement their place in ACC History.

For the Clemson Tigers, Forging History profiles the dynamic personality of Nagurski finalist Christian Wilkins, All-ACC wide receiver Mike Williams’ remarkable comeback from a broken neck, and how Heisman finalist Deshaun Watson helped his mother, Deann, in her recovery from tongue cancer. Head Coach Dabo Swinney also explains how constructing houses in the community has made the Tigers locker room feel like more of a home.

On the Virginia Tech sideline, ACC Coach of the Year Justin Fuente discusses replacing the legendary Frank Beamer and how his team found some magic in their former head coach’s No. 25 jersey. Jerod Evans recounts his winding road from Texas to Blacksburg, and the Hokies’ career touchdown reception leader Isaiah Ford reflects on how his mother’s weekly road trips drive him to excellence between the lines.

The show will air in syndication from Dec. 17 until Dec. 25. In addition, Forging History will air on ESPNU on Dec. 19 at 6 p.m., Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. and Jan. 20 at 11 p.m.
