Raycom Ups Ken Reiner To Programming VP

The group’s corporate director of programming adds a VP stripe as he oversee programming content, development strategies, syndication acquisitions, scheduling and budgeting.

Raycom Media today promoted Ken Reiner to vice president of programming.

The veteran television industry executive is currently corporate director of programming for the group and will continue to be based out of Raycom’s Los Angeles programming offices. The promotion is effective Sept. 1.

Reiner will oversee programming content, development strategies, syndication acquisitions, scheduling and budgeting for the media group that includes ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, CW, MNT and independent stations as well as the Bounce TV diginet with a core base in the Southeast and Midwest regions of the U.S.

He will report to Susana Schuler, SVP of content, marketing and programming. “We are thrilled to have within our ranks already such a proven leader and executive to take Raycom’s local and national programming efforts in new directions while continuing our strong partnership in the syndication community for launching and carrying winning shows on all platforms,” Schuler said.

Reiner is a seasoned program executive, overseeing content acquisitions and development for multiple media companies over the past 22-plus years including Tribune Broadcasting and Newport Television.

“Ken was a natural choice for this position given his extensive background in programming and local station background. We have already seen a smooth transition after a successful 15 years with Mary Carole McDonnell leading Raycom programming efforts. Ken is already active with the syndication community and that will only grow as he takes over as vice president running our office in L.A.,” said Paul McTear, president-CEO of Raycom Media.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Reiner has held a number of program management positions at both the local and corporate level beginning his career at WUPW Toledo, Ohio, in programming and production/operations.
