Ross Becker Joins KMIR As News Director

OTA Broadcasting, which operates NBC affiliate KMIR and KPSE (MNT) in Palm Springs, Calif. (DMA 146), has hired Ross Becker as KMIR’s news director, beginning Jan. 3. He succeeds David Reese, who left on Dec. 2.

Becker comes from KUSI San Diego where he was prime anchor and reporter.

Becker has worked in local newsrooms in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and Las Vegas along with serving as an anchor and reporter for MSNBC in New York.

He was also VP of marketing and affiliation development for the Business Talk Radio Network. He has owned and operated radio stations and has served on The Associated Press board of directors.

Becker has earned four Emmy awards and five Golden Mike Awards and the national Mark Twain Award for writing from the AP.
