RTDNA Now Offering Corporate Memberships

Corporate membership allows groups to enroll individuals from all their stations for $100 per year, versus the usual $199.

Long built on individual members, the Radio Television Digital News Association now offers station groups corporate memberships, aimed at giving the organization clout in places like Washington as well as boosting its numbers.

RTDNA Executive Director Mike Cavender says having big-name broadcasters onboard helps boost the organization’s stature in the eyes of policymakers.

“It provides RTDNA with additional leverage as we go forth and work with Congress and in the courts and in the regulatory agencies, making sure that policies and practices are what they should be for our members and for other folks in electronic journalism,” he says.

Gannett, Nexstar and Sinclair have already signed on, adding about 120 new members to RTDNA’s total roster of about 1,200, Cavender says. Sinclair alone accounts for about 70 new members.

RTDNA events include the Edward R. Murrow Awards in New York and the Excellence in Journalism conference held each fall. The organization also offers training and newsroom resources.
