Raycom, which takes over operations of the New Orleans Fox affiliate Monday, has chosen the GM of its WAFB Baton Rouge, La., to lead the transition.
Sandy Breland Named WVUE VP-GM
Raycom Media has appointed Sandy Breland vice president and general manager of WVUE New Orleans (DMA 51) when Raycom begins providing operational services for the Louisiana Media Co.-owned Fox affiliate on Dec. 16. She succeeds Joe Cook who just retired.
Breland, a graduate of Loyola University-New Orleans, spent more than 20 years in the New Orleans market, serving the majority of her time as news director of WWL-TV. She is currently VP-GM of Raycom-owned WAFB Baton Rouge, La.
In addition to managing WVUE, Breland will continue her role as Raycom regional VP with managerial oversight of the company’s Louisiana stations: WAFB Baton Rouge, KSLA Shreveport and KPLC Lake Charles.
WVUE Owner Tom Benson said: “We’re pleased to have someone with Sandy’s background and experience who is a native New Orleanian with a proven track record of serving the community.”
