Santa Fe Officials Wooing TV’s ‘The Bachelor’
SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Santa Fe city councilors say tourism officials should disclose whether taxpayer funds are being spent to lure TV’s “The Bachelor” to film in the city.
The Santa Fe New Mexican reports city tourism director Randy Randall said that the ABC reality show wants to keep any decisions secret.
Tourism officials have been courting producers since being approached by the show.
The City Council last month voted 5-4 to grant the spending of $50,000 to $100,000 to offset “Bachelor” production costs.
Officials say the city wouldn’t lose any money if the dating show doesn’t choose Santa Fe.
City Councilor Bill Dimas, who voted against the funding, says he finds it strange that officials can’t disclose ABC’s decision.
