Scripps’ ‘The Now’ Off To A Good Start

The live 4 p.m. show posted encouraging ratings in its first week on the air on ABC affiliate KMGH Denver and NBC affiliate KSHB Kansas City, Mo.

Station group E. W. Scripps’ live 4 p.m. show The Now is off to an encouraging start in its first week on the air on ABC affiliate KMGH Denver and NBC affiliate KSHB Kansas City, Mo.

On KMGH it has an average 1.6 household rating and 5 share for its first four days, which is flat to its lead-in, Sony’s Dr. Oz, and up 77% from its year-ago time slot average, based on Nielsen data. The Now ranks No. 3 among all shows in its time slot.

Among women 25-54, it has a 0.5/3, flat to its lead in and up 20% year to year.

On KSHB, The Now has a 2.2/6 in households so far, which is down 12% from its lead in, CBS Television Distribution’s Jeopardy, and down 21% from its year-ago time slot averages. It ranks No. 3 in its time slot.

Demographic ratings are not available in Kansas City.

The Now is a newsy talk show with breaking news, viral videos, local hosts and a national host in Denver.

Scripps is rolling out the show the next couple of months into six more markets. The show is replacing nationally syndicated shows like Warner Bros.’ Ellen in most of those markets.
