Shields, Kelley Get New Jobs At NBCU Cable

NBCUniversal executive Cory Shields has been named executive vice president, communications, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios. The announcement was made by Bonnie Hammer, Chairman, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios, to whom he reports. Based in New York, Shields begins his new duties immediately.

In his new role, Shields will be responsible for developing and implementing overall communications strategies for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios, and will oversee the communications efforts of all its properties, which include USA Network, Syfy, E! Entertainment, G4, Sleuth, Chiller, Universal HD and Universal Cable Studios.

Most recently Shields was executive vice president, global policy strategies and alliances, where he worked within the NBCUniversal anti-piracy team developing and implementing strategies for advancing a global agenda for strengthening IP protection for the company’s content around the world. He also built strong alliances with other IP-intensive industries and labor unions.

Shields will be succeeded by John Kelley as SVP, communications, pro-social and diversity initiatives, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios. In his new role, Kelley will be responsible for internal and external communications related to pro-social and diversity programs within the cable entertainment group, as well as helping to develop new diversity initiatives across the division. He will report to Shields.

Kelley was previously SVP, communications, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and Cable Studios, overseeing communications strategy for the division, which includes USA Network, Syfy, E! Entertainment and Universal Cable Productions.
