Sinclair Buys Six Pappas Stations In Neb.

The broadcast group pays $31.25 million to add to its portfolio the Nebraska stations KFXL Lincoln, KHGI Kearney, KHGI-LD O’Neill, KWNB-LD Hayes Center, KWNB-LD McCook and KHGI-CD North Platte.

Sinclair Broadcast Group has purchased at auction six Nebraska television stations formerly owned by Pappas Telecasting, which filed for bankruptcy in 2008. Sinclair paid $31.25 million.

The stations are: KFXL Lincoln, KHGI Kearney, KHGI-LD O’Neill, KWNB-LD Hayes Center, KWNB-LD McCook and KHGI-CD North Platte. They are all in the Lincoln-Hastings-Kearney DMA (105) or North Platte DMA (209).

KFXL is a Fox affiliate, the others are all ABC affiliates.

Delaware Bankruptcy Court approval has been granted and an application for the stations’ transfer has been filed at the FCC by David Stapleton, trustee of the Pappas Liquidating Trust.

The Pappas Liquidating Trust also owns television stations KCWI/KDMI, Des Moines, Iowa and WLGA-TV Opelika, Ala.
