Sinclair Names Doug Gealy Group Manager

The former Acme Communications exec will oversee Sinclair’s stations in Washington, Raleigh, N.C., and Richmond, Va.

Sinclair Broadcast Group has named Doug Gealy group manager responsible for the oversight of the Washington D.C., Raleigh, N.C., and Richmond, Va., markets. The announcement was made by Steve Marks, chief operating officer of Sinclair’s television group.

Gealy was president, chief executive officer and chief operating officer and a founder of Acme Communications  from January 1997 to April 2013. Prior to that and from 1996, he was EVP of Benedek Broadcasting.

From 1991 to 1996, he was president and general manager of WCMH and WWHO Columbus, Ohio. From 1989 to 1991, Gealy was VP-GM of WHOI Peoria, Ill. Prior to that, he held various other positions including general sales manager, local sales manager, national sales manager and account executive for various stations in Ohio.

Gealy received his Bachelor of Science degree in mass communications from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
