Sinclair Names Lipps Springfield-Decatur GM
Sinclair Broadcast Group has appointed Rick Lipps general manager of its ABC affiliate WICS Springfield-Decatur, Ill. (DMA 84). He will also oversee sales and other non-programming related services of WRSP (Fox) and WBUI (CW) in the same market pursuant to joint sales and shared services agreements.
Lipps most recently and since 2007 was GM of WCBD Charleston, SC, as well as group leader for stations in Savannah and Augusta, Ga. From 2006 to 2007, he was GM of WNWO Toledo, Ohio, a station currently owned by Sinclair.
Prior to that and from 1999, he was GM of WTNZ Knoxville, Tenn., and KWWL Waterloo, Iowa.
Lipps started his broadcasting career in the early 1980’s, working for various broadcasters in management positions, including Sullivan Broadcasting, Quorum Broadcasting, Woods Communications Group and Wheeler Communications.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University.
