Sinclair Picks Up ‘Trisha’ In 27 Markets

NBCU's new daytime talk show with British host Trisha Goddard is a conflict talker in the mold of NBCU’s Maury. It's being sold on a cash-plus-barter basis (four national minutes/11 local) for fall 2012.

NBC Universal’s daytime talk show, Trisha, with longtime U.K. talk show host Trisha Goddard, is gaining some traction for fall 2012. The Sinclair Broadcast Group has picked it up in 27 markets for two years, including on MNT affiliate WTTA Tampa and ABC affiliate KDNL St. Louis.

NBCU is actively selling Trisha to other station groups.

This comes just six days after NBCU sold Steve Harvey to the NBC Owned Television Stations in its 10 markets.

Trisha, which is being sold on a cash-plus-barter basis, is a conflict talk show in the mold of NBCU’s Maury. In fact, Goddard has been a guest host on Maury a few times.

 Nielsen research found that she held onto Maury’s audience and, in some cases, improved on that show’s ratings. Like Maury, Trisha will be produced at the Stamford Media Center in Connecticut.

Trisha is joining a crowded conflict talk show pack, which also includes newcomers Bill Cunningham and Jeremy Kyle.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

In its first year, Tribune’s Cunningham is generating a 0.8 household rating with a 3 share in 20 metered markets. That is down from a 1.1/4 for its time-slot averages last year.

Debmar-Mercury’s Jeremy Kyle is averaging a 0.5/2 in metered markets, compared to a 0.8/2 for its time slots last year. However, Jeremy’s ratings have been trending up. This week, it posted its highest overnight ratings so far.

Meanwhile, NBCU’s Maury has a 2.3 household rating this season – up 15% from last year. NBCU’s Jerry Springer has a 1.5 and Steve Wilkos has a 1.3 rating – up 15% and flat to last year, respectively. In 2010, all three shows were renewed through 2013-14.
