The Freedom Communications sales exec becomes GM of the CBS affiliate in West Palm Beach operated and being purchased by Sinclair.

Sinclair Taps Michael Pumo To Lead WPEC
Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. has named Michael Pumo general manager of CBS affiliate WPEC West Palm Beach-Ft. Pierce, Fla. (DMA 38). Pumo will be responsible for oversight of the station, which is owned by Freedom Broadcasting, but programmed by Sinclair under a time brokerage agreement.
Pumo has been VP of broadcast sales for Freedom Communications. WPEC, as well as the remainder of Freedom’s TV stations, are in the process of being acquired by Sinclair.
Prior to that and from 2006, Pumo was president-GM of WFLA Tampa, Fla. From 2002, he was VP-GM of WBTW Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Pumo was VP-GM of KAMR and KAMC Lubbock, Texas, from 1999 to 2002, and from 1998, he was GM of Sinclair’s WCGV and WVTV Milwaukee.
Prior to that, he held various sales roles, including general sales manager, local sales manager and account executive and was also a sports anchor.
Pumo has a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech-communication from Eastern Illinois University.
