Sling Adds Showtime, Family, Spanish Chs.

Sling TV launched multiple new channels today:

Showtime — Now available as a premium, Showtime offers new and existing Sling TV customers eight channels for $10 per month, including nearly 2,000 on-demand titles. The launch of Showtime on Sling TV marks the first time an OTT service has offered content from the four leading premium networks.

“We know our price and the ability to personalize your channel lineup are why consumers prefer Sling TV, so we’ll continue to offer more customizable options like this,” said Glenn Eisen, chief marketing officer of Sling TV. “Showtime offers Sling TV customers additional high-quality live and on-demand content, including hit series like Homeland and Billions.”

Best of Spanish TV Channels — Sling has expanded its Best of Spanish TV with the addition of three new Spanish-language: Estrella TV, Vme Kids and El Financiero|Bloomberg TV. Best of Spanish TV remains priced at $10 per month as a standalone service or $5 per month when paired with Sling Orange and/or Sling Blue.

Heartland Extra — The latest in Sling’s lineup of Extras, Heartland Extra provides Sling Orange and Sling Blue customers with family-friendly sitcoms, timeless movies, outdoor entertainment and more. For $5 per month, Heartland Extra adds six new channels including Family Net, Outdoor Channel and more.

FTR, according to an article in the San Francisco Chronicle’s SFGate, the eight Showtime channels Sling will now be carrying are Showtime (east and west), Showtime 2, Showtime Showcase, Showtime Extreme, Showtime Beyond, Showtime Next and Showtime Women. The Movie Channel and Flix are absent, as is, strangely, Showtime Family Zone. And yes, Sling is counting the two coastal feeds of the main Showtime channel as separate channels; so technically, it’s offering seven channels in the add-on pack. But good for Sling, hopefully, they’ll eventually add an “Extra” pack that allows Showtime subscribers to add TMC and Flix to the package, and hopefully, they’ll add the multiplex feeds of HBO, Cinemax, Starz and Starz Encore that they don’t carry at present.
