Snell tried to kick start some momentum at NAB on Sunday by announcing a new media asset management and workflow automation system — aptly called Momentum.

Designed to acquire a variety of content types, from tape ingest to live feeds, and to support multiple types of storage systems, Momentum, according to Snell, lets users create and modify workflows for different functions of newsroom production; can be set up to automate repetitive tasks; and supports a variety of different delivery platforms. It also comes with tools to allow users to analyze operations in real time and to simulate workflow scenarios.

Another primary focus at yesterday’s press event was the recently announced third version of Snell’s ICE channel-in-a-box system. Enhancements include integrated 3D graphics, an optional shared storage capability and a new content validation feature to analyze source material on the spot, blocking invalid formats or damaged content from making their way to the on-air output.

Other new enhancements being introduced at NAB include a ramped up Vega; the asymmetrical router, whose ports can be used for input or output purposes, can now accommodate up to 192 ports.

KudosPro is a new single rack conversion platform that can be used for content repurposing; pricing starts at $3,299 per channel.

And Snell’s Alchemist Ph.C HD standards conversion offering is equipped with a new technology, dubbed FileFlow, that allows for real-time file conversion.
