Social Nets Push Broadcasters To Experiment
Broadcasters had a chance to mine their frenemies relationship with Google, Facebook and Twitter more closely Tuesday at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in a spirited back and forth exchange. Two points were clear: both camps need each other in an inextricably entwined media landscape and broadcasters need to take a highly differentiated approach to each social platform as they continue to iterate.

With a few exceptions, maybe more than I know about, broadcasters seem a lot like your elderly uncle who refuses to use a smartphone and join the 21st Century. Antennas are for point-to-point. Wires are for point-to-many.

Er, what? Wires are, by definition, point to point. You might send the same signal down multiple wires, but at the end of the day, it’s point to point. Meanwhile, with wireless, tons of people get a boatload of signals they’re not using (or able to use) at any given time because the signal goes everywhere.
