Split: Tribune Co. Becomes Tribune Media Co.
Today, as it completes the spinoff of its publishing businesses, Tribune Co. begins operating under the name Tribune Media Co.
Tribune Media comprises Tribune Broadcasting, WGN America, Tribune Studios, Tribune Digital Ventures, WGN-AM Chicago and Tribune Real Estate. Information about the company can be found on Tribune Media’s new corporate website, launched today at www.tribunemedia.com.
Tribune Broadcasting’s 42 owned or operated television stations reach 50 million households; national cable network WGN America is available in 72 million households; Tribune Digital Ventures includes the websites Zap2it and TVByTheNumbers and Gracenote, which provide TV and music metadata powering electronic program guides in televisions, automobiles and mobile devices. Tribune Media also includes the national multicast networks Antenna TV and This TV. Additionally, the company owns and manages a significant number of real estate properties across the U.S. and holds other strategic investments in media.
