SSN TV Signs News Content Deal With Arise TV
African-American targeted broadcast TV network Soul of the South Network (SSN TV) has signed a content agreement with Arise TV that will result in five-and-a-half hours of co-branded news programs daily.
Last month SSN announced it had gained distribution in nine of the top 10 African American DMAs, including carriage on FiOS in New York City, parts of New Jersey and on the primary channel of its full power, must-carry television affiliate WMDE Washington DC. WMDE’s coverage extends to Baltimore, MD and Northern Virginia.
Arise TV is a 24-hour news and content company with a team of more than 500 journalists and broadcast hubs in London, New York, Johannesburg and Lagos, Nigeria.
“We look forward to this exciting collaboration with SSN TV,” said Nduka Obaigbena, Chairman, Arise TV, “and working together to build an unrivaled information platform that reflects the global 21st century approach to the ways news is consumed. This deal provides us with a vitally important presence in the U.S. broadcast market, and gives SSN viewers a never before available perspective on the news beyond their own borders. This is a win-win for all involved.”
“This deal further solidifies our commitment to news and information programming,” added Doug McHenry, CEO, SSN TV. “We will broadcast five-and-a-half hours of news daily, along with our original programs and syndicated product. SSN now has the most diverse lineup of programming offered in our competitive space based upon our unique news, information, culture and entertainment (NICE) programming format.”
Reaching 40 million over the air households and 7 million cable households, the Little Rock, Ark.- headquartered network re-launched in February of this year.
