Starz Promotes Three Executives

Starz today announced the promotion of Peter J. Demas to vice president, network operations; Michael Gallegos to executive director, on air promotion; and Stephan Pfeifer to senior director, business and legal affairs. All are based at Starz Corporate headquarters in Englewood, Colo.

Peter J. Demas most recently served as executive director, key initiatives at Starz Entertainment Group. In his new role, Demas is responsible for overseeing all aspects of network on-air promotion, including campaigns, planning and strategy for all Starz and Encore channels. He reports to Stephan Shelanski, executive vice president programming acquisitions.

Prior to joining Starz in 2007, Demas held a series of leadership positions in the entertainment industry, including vice president, group director of production and entertainment marketing for MediaVest in New York. He also was vice president, program enterprises and executive producer, home entertainment for MTV: Music Television & VH1, where he headed up production, distribution, marketing and promotion for worldwide home video distribution. Demas received his BA in broadcast communications from Hofstra University.

Michael Gallegos is now is executive director, on-air promotion, for Starz Entertainment. In this role, Gallegos is responsible for overseeing the creative management and development of promotional content across multiple platforms, including on-demand and on-air for Starz Entertainment.

A Starz veteran, Gallegos previously held positions at Altitude Sports & Entertainment, Fox Sports Net and KTVD Denver. Gallegos received his BA in communications from the Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Stephan Pfeifer is now senior director, business and legal affairs, for Starz Entertainment. He had previously was director, business and legal affairs. Pfeifer is responsible for consulting and providing guidance to internal Starz Entertainment and Starz Media clients on issues related to marketing, contract negotiation, intellectual property and anti-piracy.

Prior to joining Starz Entertainment in March 2001, Pfeifer was a senior paralegal with the law firms of Mayer-Brown and Katten Muchin Rosenman in Chicago. Pfeifer received his BA and MLIS from the University of Wisconsin.
