Steve Carter Named GM Of WCSH Portland

Carter joins the Gannett NBC affiliate from KUSA-KTVD Denver, another Gannett operation, where he was VP of marketing and promotion.

Gannett Broadcasting has named Steve Carter president and GM at NBC affiliate WCSH Portland, Maine.

Carter formerly was VP of marketing and promotion at KUSA-KTVD, Gannett’s NBC-MNT duopoly in Denver.

“Steve Carter has an enormous amount of knowledge and experience in local broadcasting,” said Dave Lougee, president of Gannett Broadcasting.

“His outstanding creativity, passion for excellence and exceptional leadership abilities will help WCSH continue providing its award-winning news and community service to Portland and all of Maine.”

Carter has been with KUSA for 19 years, and with KTVD after Gannett acquired it in 2006. He was named VP of marketing and promotion in 2007.

Earlier, he served as director of marketing and promotion from 1999-2007; executive producer of promotion from 1997-1999; and as a promotion writer/producer from 1992-1997.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

He joined KUSA from KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, SD, where he was promotion manager.

Carter graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall with a degree in speech communication/broadcasting.
