Steve Karlin To Anchor KCCI 5 P.M. News

Hearst Television’s CBS affiliate KCCI Des Moines, Iowa (DMA 72), is moving Steve Karlin from the station’s morning newscast to co-anchor KCCI 8 News at Five with Stacey Horst and Chief Meteorologist John McLaughlin beginning Monday, Aug. 25.

The station also announced that Eric Hanson will be promoted to co-anchor KCCI 8 News This Morning.

The move from KCCI 8 News This Morning to KCCI 8 News at 5 marks a return to the 5 o’clock timeslot for Karlin, who joined the KCCI team in 1989. Karlin anchored KCCI’s 5 p.m. newscast from its inception in 1993 until he moved to the morning newscast in 2011.

Hanson, who will succeed Karlin as co-anchor of KCCI 8 News This Morning with Elizabeth Klinge and Meteorologist Kurtis Gertz, brings his 14 years of KCCI experience to the anchor chair.He will continue to report on a regular basis including his series of reports, This Is Iowa.
