Syndicated ‘The Real’ Gets Two-Year Renewal

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution gives the green light for more of the panel-talk show, renewing it through 2017-18 season.

The Real will be sticking around for at least two more seasons, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution announced today.

The syndicated panel-talk show — featuring five co-hosts — has been renewed for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons, WBDTD said. In announcing the renewal, the company cited strong clearances on stations representing 95% of the country, a station lineup anchored by the Fox Television Stations group.

In addition to renewals on the Fox group, The Real was renewed by stations representing a number of other groups as well, including Sinclair, Hearst, Tribune, Media General, Nexstar, Cox, Gray, Wiegel, Sunbeam, Scripps, Raycom, Tegna, Northwest, Meredith, Marshall, Mission, Cordillera, Entravision, Mckinnon and News Press, WBDTD said.

The company also announced a separate renewal deal with BET under which The Real would continue running weeknights on the cable channel through the 2016-17 season.

The two upcoming renewal seasons will represent Seasons 3 and 4 for The Real, which is now in its second season. WBDTD said the renewals were fueled by the show’s ratings growth from Season 1 to Season 2.

The Real has carved out an impressive home in the daytime space,” said Ken Werner, WBDTD president. “The uniqueness of the series is not in its format, but rather in its hosts, whose individual voices are distinctive and fun…. Growing in their second season is a great achievement.”

BRAND CONNECTIONS

The five co-hosts of The Real are Tamera Mowry-Housley, Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton and Loni Love.

Ugh. Fortunately, my FOX O&O puts it on at 12 Noon, while I’m watching an hour of local news on my ABC affiliate.
