Telemundo Launching New O&O On July 1

Telemundo 20 San Diego will air its first weekday local newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 20, at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. on July 3. The station’s new website, Telemundo 20.com, and dedicated station app, Telemundo 20, will launch on June 1 with local news and weather information.

The Telemundo Station Group today announced that Telemundo 20 San Diego will officially launch on Saturday, July 1, on a subchannel of NBC-owned KNSD.

The new station kicks off with a special 30-minute program, Telemundo 20, tu nuevo noticiero (Telemundo 20, your new newscast) at 6 p.m. that will feature interviews with the station’s news anchors and reporters and give local audiences a behind-the-scenes look at launch-day preparations in advance of the news team’s on-air debut on Monday, July 3. Telemundo 20 will air its first weekday local newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 20, at 5, 5:30, 6 and 11 p.m. on July 3.

Telemundo 20 will provide audiences in the San Diego and Baja California area in Mexico with local news, weather and sports across all platforms as well as Telemundo network entertainment programming. 

Telemundo 20 (KNSD-D3) will be available to cable subscribers in San Diego on ch. 20 and over-the-air reception will be available on ch. 39.20 (satellite subscribers should check local listings). 

The station’s new website, Telemundo 20.com, and dedicated station app, Telemundo 20, will launch on June 1 and provide local news and weather information. The station’s digital platforms will also feature hyper-local weather forecasts including an exclusive 10-day weather forecast, a new state-of-the-art Live Radar that will be powered by the station’s proprietary network of radars including a fixed radar system that is appropriate for unique West Coast terrain and the first-of-its-kind mobile Doppler weather radar called CazaTormentas in Spanish (StormRanger).

The Live Radar will also be powered by the existing network of national weather radars. Additionally, Telemundo 20’s content will be available on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

For viewers who seek the latest sports news, including live coverage and information around the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017, local audiences will be able to visit Telemundo20.com or download Telemundo 20’s new app to watch a livestream of the games delivered by the Telemundo Deportes EN VIVO app. Audiences will also access real-time game scores and updates and receive app alerts.

Additionally, Telemundo 20’s digital and mobile platforms will provide audiences special digital news reports delivered by a team dispatched to Russia by the Telemundo Station Group to report for the group’s network of Telemundo stations. Telemundo is the home of the FIFA World Cup through 2026.

Telemundo 20 San Diego will operate and broadcast from NBCUniversal’s new San Diego broadcast facility located in Kearny Mesa. The two-story, 52,000 square-foot news center will be home to both Telemundo 20 and KNSD. The news facility features the latest broadcast technologies and numerous energy-efficient elements, including a 200 KW solar rooftop system and parking lot that make the facility one of the most environmental friendly news centers in the region.

On Monday, July 3, Telemundo 20 will unveil a new state-of-the-art news set, production studio and control room that contain advanced audio and video production systems to create news and entertainment programming on-air and digitally.

The article mentions this is on KNSD-D3, then on channel 39.2. Can this be clarified; I assume it’s not replacing Cozi on 39.2, but is on 39.3.

    You are correct that Cozi (D2) remains on 39.2. Telemundo 20 (D3) will be on 39.20 and I’ve corrected the story to reflect that. Also, TeleXitos (D4) is on 39.21. Thanks.
