Telemundo Ups Sunol To VP Digital News

Eduardo Suñol is now in charge of the network’s digital operation, overseeing the creation of original digital content in Spanish and English.

 

Telemundo today promoted Eduardo Suñol to VP, Telemundo News digital. He will report to Luis Fernandez, EVP, news, Telemundo.

In this role, Suñol will be responsible for growing the Telemundo News digital operation and increasing integration between the Telemundo News division and its digital team. Suñol will also oversee the creation of original digital content in Spanish and English.

Previously, Suñol was the executive producer of digital and social media for Telemundo News where he was in charge of overseeing the network’s digital news coverage, as well as social media and mobile strategies.

He also created and implemented the editorial strategy behind the @TelemundoNews Twitter feed, the Noticias Telemundo Facebook, Youtube and Instagram pages, as well as those of Al Rojo Vivo and Un Nuevo Día. Suñol also lead the team that built the Telemundo News app.  

Suñol joined Telemundo from ABC World News, where he produced segments for the newscast and served as executive producer for the Weekend World News webcast. He is a recipient of the David Kaplan Award for Best TV Spot News Reporting for the ABC News coverage of Sichuan’s province earthquake, the Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship awarded by the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University, and The National Association of Hispanic Publications Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Award for Outstanding Political Article.

Suñol was valedictorian of his class at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism where he received a master’s degree in science of journalism. Prior to that, he graduated from Hunter College with a bachelor’s degree in Media Studies. A native of Cuba, Suñol began his career there in radio.
