Thanh Truong Returns To WWL News

Belo Corp.’s CBS affiliate WWL New Orleans (DMA 51) announced Wednesday that Thanh Truong will return to the station’s news team as anchor and reporter (he worked there in 2005 and covered the impact and aftermath of Hurricane Katrina).  He will anchor Saturday evening newscasts and report. His first day will be Wednesday, Sept. 18.

For the last three years, Truong has worked as an NBC News correspondent based in Atlanta, contributing to all NBC News properties, including NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, Today and MSNBC.

Prior to that, Truong had been a general assignment reporter with KUSA Denver since 2006. Truong also worked as a reporter for WMAZ Macon, Ga., and WWNY Watertown, N.Y.

Truong was born in Can Tho in southern Vietnam and graduated from Syracuse University with a master’s degree in broadcast journalism, and received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, politics and law from Binghamton University.
