‘The Closer’ Cleared For A Second Cycle

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution has sold broadcast rights to the TNT drama in more than 88% of the U.S. for 2012-14.

Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution (WBDTD) has cleared the second-cycle broadcast rights to the drama series The Closer in over 88% of the country. The Fox Television Stations have renewed the weekend hour in 16 markets, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Dallas.

Rick Meril, EVP and general sales manager, Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, said: “Outside of the Fox Television Stations, over 40 additional station groups have also stepped up to renew the program, including CBS, Tribune, Belo, Lin, Cox, Fisher, Nexstar, Media General, Meredith, Local TV, Raycom, New Age, New Vision, Newport, Northwest and Gray, just to name a few — all of whom recognize the strength of this distinctive program.

The Closer is the highest-rated series in the history of advertiser-supported cable television, according to WBDTD, ranking No. 1 among households, total viewers and women 25–54. It debuted as a Top 3 weekend hour in syndication in 2010–11 among the same demos.
