The Movies! Diginet Adds 9 New Affiliates

With these stations from Hearst, Gray, LM Communications, M33 Media, OTA Broadcasting  and Ironwood Communications, the classic movie multicast channel’s clearances now top 50% of U.S.

The Movies! Network, Weigel Broadcasting and Fox Television Stations’ classic film multicast channel, has signed affiliation agreements that add stations in Sacramento (DMA 20); Pittsburgh (DMA 22); Kansas City (DMA 31); Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville, N.C. (DMA  37); Louisville, Ky. (DMA 49); Flint, Mich. (DMA 70); Portland-Auburn, Ore. (DMA 80); Reno, Nev. (DMA 107); and Traverse City, Mich. (DMA 118).

The Movies! will launch on three Hearst Television stations in January 2015: KQCA-DT Sacramento, Calif.; KCWE-DT, Kansas City; and WYFF-DT Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville, N.C.

WBKI-DT, Louisville, Ky., owned by LM Communications; WUWB-LD Flint and WURO-LD Traverse City, Mich.,  owned by M33 Media, all launched the network on Sept. 1. KOLO-DT, Reno, owned by Gray Television, and WPME-DT, owned by Ironwood Communications, will launch The Movies! on Oct. 1. WBGN-CD Pittsburgh, owned by OTA Broadcasting, will launch in mid-October.

“Our new affiliates recognize the exceptional viewing experience the Movies TV Network offers their viewers and advertisers as well as the flexibility of our business model which allows them to maximize their revenue by controlling their own inventory or participating in a revenue sharing program,” said Maura Cope, Head of Distribution for the Network. 

The Movies! is now cleared in more than 50% of the U.S.

Movies! is on WRBW/65.2 OTA and on some minor cable systems in Central Florida. I’m STILL WAITING for Bright House to add it, Grit, Escape, Bounce TV, Qubo Channel, and ION Life to their lineups.
