TheCoolTV has picked up a key affiliate: Chang Media Group’s KQSL San Francisco.

With the addition of an outlet in the sixth largest TV market, the multicast music network extends its reach by another 2.5 million TV homes, 2.17% of all TV homes.

The network, which include videos and recorded concerts, now clears more than 50 million homes or more than 44% of all TV homes.

David Hampe, COO of Cool Music Network, said the company expects to announce two more affiliates in the coming days.

Other station groups with at least one station affiliated with TheCoolTV include LIN TV, Sinclair Broadcast Group, Belo Corp., Newport Television, McGraw-Hill Broadcasting and Journal Broadcast Group.

TheCoolTV Rocks! TV that people will watch live, which makes it an excellent advertising forum. And, a missing niche since the cable music networks have given up on music.

KQSL is in Fort Bragg, about 150 miles north of San Francisco.

Yeah, San Francisco is a real stretch for this station. KQSL doesn’t even show up on any of the Bay area MVPDs.

How can a Fort Bragg station be considered “San Francisco”? Their signal does not even reach the Bay Area, and it’s not carried by any cable/satellite provider serving the core region. Get a real Bay Area station station before claiming it covers 2.5 million homes.

Do you guys check your facts when rewriting press releases?

By some quirk of Nielsen, Ft. Bragg is considered to be part of the San Francisco ADI. That’s how they can stretch the facts claiming that KQSL is a San Francisco station. Ft. Bragg is far enough away from everything that it falls outside not only the SF, but Sacramento, Eureka, and Chico-Redding ADI’s. I suppose there’s a rule somewhere that says every TV station must be assigned to an ADI.

None of that changes the fact that TheCoolTV is really, really stretching the truth in their press release.
