Tiffani Lupenski Named KGTV News Director

The Scripps ABC affiliate in San Diego chooses the former KATU Portland, Ore., news chief to succeed Joel Davis who was upped to station manager last October.

E.W. Scripps-owned KGTV San Diego (DMA 28) has named Tiffani Lupenski the station’s next news director. The new position is effective Monday, March 9. Lupenski succeeds Joel Davis who was promoted to station manager in October 2014.

Lupenski is currently news director at KATU Portland, Ore., a role she has held since 2012.

Prior to her current role at KATU, Lupenski was the station’s assistant news director.

Before that, she was executive producer at KCPQ Seattle.

Prior career stops include executive producer at KUSA Denver, following stints as the station’s late news producer as well as writer/producer earlier on.  She also served as a copy editor/producer at CNN Headline News in Atlanta. 

Lupenski began her news career as a reporter and anchor for both TV and radio, with stops at WGST-AM Atlanta; WBMA-TV Birmingham, Ala.; KPLC-TV Lake Charles, La.; and KTSA-AM San Antonio, Texas.
